Puppet festival closes with clownery
Chandigarh: A jugglery-cum-pocket circus show by Italian artist Gianluiqi Capone and his crew enthralled the audience on the last day of the fourth International Puppet Festival at Tagore Theatre on Tuesday.
The team, "Teatro Verde" was headed by Veronica Olmi, national secretary, Union Internationale de la Marionnette. "We are not puppeteers but we encompass the same sense of fun and entertainment through our juggleries.

The pocket circus is unique and difficult but we perform it smoothly. Jugglery and clownery go hand in hand. They aim at entertaining people", Veronica said.
The smooth movements of the team members made the difficult performing art look deceptively simple. According to Gianluiqi, "I love my work. It is like I am playing and it becomes easy in that instant. I perform using balls and clubs. The idea is to bring the out the circus with a suitcase full of props" .
The troupe has many shows to its credit in countries like Moscow, Russia, Tunisia, Romania and Bangkok. The festival, which was organized by the department of cultural affairs, UT administration and Tagore Theatre, in association with Ishara Puppet, closed to a delighted audience.
